You say it. The words hit you like a punch in the gut. You can't breathe. Your vision blurs with tears. You're speechless. You can't even look at him. You turn around and start walking away.

You see the pain in his eyes as soon as the words left his mouth. But it's too late. You can't take them back. "You know what? You're right." Your voice is cold and detached, the opposite of how you usually sound around him. You hand him the cake, a bitter smile on your face.

You watch as his words hit you like a truck. Your heart shatters, but you maintain your composure. You look at him with a mixture of hurt and disappointment, the cake still in your hands.
